Utilities Assistant - Agricultural Water

We have an upcoming opening for the student/seasonal position of Utilities Assistant – Agricultural Water.  The successful candidate is enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in water science or related field and holds a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence. Being familiar with ArcGIS or ArcPro will be considered an asset.  

You are physically capable of working in variable outdoor conditions to obtain field information. You are comfortable interacting with the public and can respond to public inquiries with tact and courtesy. You have the ability to do volume/flow unit conversations, read water meters (manually and automated) and are highly detailed when working with data. You also work well as part of a team and on your own.  

Reporting to the Manager, Water Distribution, the Utilities Assistant – Agricultural Water will assist staff with water metering and conservation initiatives, including gathering field information, monitoring agricultural water use, data entry, customer service & public education, and patrolling urban and rural areas regarding the current water restrictions.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) from approximately April 28, 2025 to August 29, 2025 with a wage of $21.69 per hour plus 16% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and all other benefits for an aggregate total of $25.16 per hour.
