We have an immediate opening for the regular, full-time position of Fire Training Officer, located at the Regional District’s Fire Training Centre (FTC). The FTC plays a key role in the development, and training of the region's firefighters. The Centre provides the grounds, buildings and props to deliver customized programs and courses to firefighters.
The successful candidate will have five years of firefighting experience, demonstrated skills and abilities in developing and conducting fire training programs, a diploma in a related field and a valid BC driver’s license.
You possess Certified Training Officer Accreditation or Certified National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Service Instructor I. Advanced knowledge of relevant Fire Service legislation, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and BC Fire Service training standards, including NFPA programs is required. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Reporting to Manager, Rural Services, the Fire Training Officer is responsible for managing, developing, delivering and coordinating education programs for the Regional District’s three Fire Departments, as well as coordinating, scheduling and monitoring contract instructors and technicians at the FTC.

This is a regular, full-time position (35 hours/week) with a wage range of $38.15 to $43.82 per hour (under review), depending upon experience and qualifications, as well as an extensive benefits package and generous compressed work schedule.
